Learn basic phonics techniques (both Letterland and Jolly Phonics) to improve English pronunciation, spelling, and speaking skills.

Phonics for children lesson plan – beginners level

Introduction to all alphabet sounds starting with vowels which are the important letters. After the students know the vowel sounds well with different practice tools, introduce all consonant sounds starting with the more troubled and confusing consonants, i.e. “l”, “r”, “b”, “d”, “f”, “v”, “s”, “x”, “z”, etc. Will provide more practice tools to reinforce students’ understanding and remembrance of the letter sounds. Practice CVC.

Introduction to diagraph, “ch, sh, th, bl, cl, etc.”, practice CCVC.

Introduction to “twins,” same 2 letters together in a word, “ff, ll, oo, ss”

Introduction to silence/magic “e”

Introduction to vowel diagraph/long vowel – lazy friends, “ai, ay, ee, ea, oa, etc.”

Introduction to the “al”, “ar”, “er”, “ur”, “ir”, etc. sounds

Texts: Jolly phonics word book and Oxford Reading Tree Phonics storybooks
