About Me: Hello,
I’m a teacher and tutor with about three years of experience tutoring online, and another two years of experience teaching in language schools.
I first started tutoring online when I began my English Literature degree at Durham University, as a way to earn a little bit of extra money. I soon found that it was something I enjoyed immensely, and I continued tutoring for most of my university career. During the summers, I took a CELTA course and started teaching English as a foreign language in language schools in my home town of Oxford. Again, this was something which I found rewarding and challenging, and so after I finished my degree I spent a year in Gran Canaria teaching English in a language school.
Having returned to the UK, I’m now planning to focus my energies on online tutoring.
As a tutor, I try to make my lessons engaging and challenging, drawing on my experience as an EFL teacher to create fun and communicative activities. Teaching one-to-one presents its own challenges, but also has the potential to be very rewarding, since lessons can be focused very specifically on the learner’s needs. This is something I really try to emphasize, with regular ‘check-ups’ to see what’s working and what isn’t working for my tutees.

Bachelor's degree in English Literature, Upper Second Class degree
A Levels in Maths, English Literature, Philosophy and Spanish, all A* grade
GCSEs in Maths, English Literature, English Language, Spanish, French, Biology, Latin, Chemistry, Physics and Geography, all A* grade
CELTA qualification to teach EFL, Pass grade
