- I spent a year teaching English in Italy as part of my degree in Modern Languages. I initially assisted colleagues in the English department and providing all students aged 6-18 with the immersive support of a native speaker. I soon exceeded expectations and the capacity of my role increased. As well as working with colleagues, I taught independently and focused on building confidence in spoken and written English and offering concise explanations for persistent obstacles in the fluency of my students. I used the communicative approach and direct method in my teaching and believe these techniques would also work well at HeSheLearn.
What I find truly satisfying about teaching is the generating ideas, designing engaging lessons and aiding students in improving towards their maximum potential. For any students I teach, I hope to dispel the doubts so common in language learning.
My experience in teaching also extends to working as a private English tutor in Italy with children, teenagers, and adults, working on exam preparation, conversation practice and English in the workplace.
I was educated in the UK school system and have completed primary and secondary education in the UK, as well as sixth form college and university. My experiences with education here have made me very familiar with the British curriculum.
As a bilingual speaker of Lithuanian and English, and a fluent speaker of Spanish and Italian, I am passionate about the study of languages and enjoy channelling this enthusiasm into my teaching methods. When teaching English, I like to focus on building confidence and fluency in both oral and written communication through dynamic lessons which also address key grammatical points.
During school and university, I studied literature, cinema, history, culture and art in detail. Following my studies, I have maintained a keen interest in these areas and believe my knowledge in these fields can be employed in engaging ways in the teaching of English.
