- I'm 30 years old and I was born in London. I've lived in Vietnam and Italy, but I always come back to London, and live here now.
I love reading, especially fantasy books and non-fiction about history and culture. I like writing stories for fun too! I'm also studying Italian at the moment.
I'm very experienced, and have taught all kinds of English. I specialise in:
- Pronunciation and fluency. I'm very smiley and friendly, and I want to help you feel confident and comfortable so you can really practise your speaking! I also work with students on problem sounds (like "sheep" vs "ship", or "race" vs "lace") and intonation, which can be especially hard for Chinese or Russian speakers.
- Exam classes - especially IELTS, and the Cambridge exams, particularly FCE and CAE. I was one of the two FCE and CAE teachers at my most recent job, at a prestigious London school. My previous school was a Cambridge exam centre where I got more experience teaching the Cambridge exams for children and teenagers.
- Young learners - I've taught 4-year-olds all the way up to teenagers preparing for university, in lots of different settings and styles. I really enjoy teaching young learners and have got very good feedback, especially when I taught in Italian middle schools.
- Listening skills - Most students don't get enough listening practise in class but it's a vital skill. I often use materials like songs or Youtube videos, to make it fun and realistic!
- Using English outside of class - I think this is really important, but it's scary and difficult to know where to begin. I'll help you listen to music, read, and use the English-language internet, so you can talk and make English-speaking friends online!
- Politics and literature - I have an Honours degree in English Literature and love to read. I also have a Politics qualification and have taught the Politics module in a pre-university Foundation Course. If that's an interest of yours, we can discuss that!
